Description
The Botanist is a small batch gin made from nine base aromatics and 22 local, hand-picked, wild-growing botanicals from the Isle of Islay, known for its excellent peated whiskies.
The gin also takes its name from it: the Botanist.
The gin is distilled in the unique and famous Lomond pot still, named "Ugly Betty" by distillery head Jim McEwan. "Betty" doesn't like to be rushed and works under low pressure, which promotes the release of the subtle aromas.
The result of this hard work and patience is a high-quality, robust gin that plays with floral and spicy notes.
A dry gin with a clean aroma and stimulating notes of juniper, orange, pine resin and eucalyptus as well as more delicate notes of wildflowers with liquorice and cinnamon.
A very distinctive flavor, finishing dry with a sweet note and the refreshing character of fresh mint. A truly exceptional gin that's worth trying!
The 9 classics include the following ingredients: juniper berries, angelica root, cassia bark, cinnamon bark, coriander seed, lemon peel, orange peel, licorice root and orris root.
The 22 local ingredients are all hand-picked by farmers who scour the hills and coastlines for ingredients such as apple mint leaves, chamomile, peppermint leaves, thyme leaves, bog myrtle, elderflower, and more.
Ingredients: apple mint leaves, chamomile, peppermint leaves, thyme leaves, bog myrtle, elderflower, juniper berries, angelica root, cassia bark, cinnamon bark, coriander seed, lemon peel, orange peel, licorice root, and orris root.
Taste & Aroma : Robust, with an overwhelming nose. Complex spices, juicy pine notes of juniper, and licorice. 46% alcohol.
Garnish : A slice of orange and some orange zest are a good garnish. If you prefer something spicy, a sprig of thyme is perfect.
