The new Cardhu 16 Years Special Release 2022 Diageo is an outlier. The Cardhu distillery boasts a beautiful red door. The whiskies are refreshing and slightly sweet, reminiscent of Scottish orchards. The Cardhu 16 Years 'The Hidden Paradise of Black Rock' is another special release, matured in Jamaican rum casks. This lends a delicate honeyed note to the Scotch, and is full of tropical layers of sweetness and spice. The Cardhu distillery is situated on moorland, which explains Cardhu's name: 'The Black Rock'. Legend has it that one day, the ancient black rock beneath Cardhu burst open with a bang that shook the earth. A great warmth erupted, creating a tropical paradise. The wind became a gentle breeze, and lush aromas of passion flower and pineapple danced through the distillery and its surroundings, enveloping everything in a layer of exotic quality. At midnight the crack closed and the rock lay at rest for good once more.
