Description
Pink pepper is an odd one out among the 'peppers' and has actually been given a strange name:
First of all, it's not a "real" pepper like white or black pepper. It's actually the berries of a tree related to pistachios and cashews.
Pink pepper (dried) is also not pink but at most dark pink-red, often just red and sometimes even brown-red.
Moreover, pink pepper does not have a spicy pepper taste but a warm, aromatic, almost sweet, only slightly spicy taste (the irregular seeds that are in it are somewhat spicy but not nearly as hot as real pepper).
From the above, it is clear that the only thing pink pepper has in common with real pepper is the size and shape of the grains.
