The Tot was the daily rum ration given to British Navy sailors until it was abolished in 1970. After that fateful day, the remaining stocks of rum were stored in stone jars deep in the Navy's warehouses. These jars contained the only remaining "real" Navy Rum ever bottled. Sukhinder Singh managed to acquire the last of these jars and bottled them in 2010, 40 years after Black Tot Day, as a commemoration of this historic event. The name became Black Tot. Today, Black Tot is a rum brand with several different varieties and blends, from the very accessible Finest Caribbean Rum to the exclusive 40-year-old.
