BACARDÍ Carta Oro is a golden-colored, light, and smooth rum used for the original Cuba Libre. This drink is crafted in the same way as BACARDÍ Carta Blanca rum. The long aging period and precise blend of charcoals give BACARDÍ Carta Oro a rich color, as well as a smooth character and unique flavor. Bacardí Carta Oro is characterized by notes of rich vanilla, buttery caramel, toasted almonds, and sweet banana with the warm flavor of orange peel and a hint of oak. BACARDÍ Carta Oro rum is the originator of the celebrated "Cuba Libre" cocktail. To celebrate the end of the Cuban War of Independence, American Captain Russell ordered BACARDÍ Carta Oro rum and Coca-Cola® with a wedge of lime. Curious regulars asked for the drink's name. The captain suggested a toast to "Cuba Libre" (Free Cuba), and thus the original Cuba Libre cocktail was born.
