Beefeater is owned by Pernod Ricard and is bottled and distributed by James Burrough's company. Beefeater remained in the Burrough family until 1987. The name refers to the Yeomen Warders, better known as Beefeaters: the ceremonial guards of the Tower of London. Unique to Beefeater Gin's production is the 24-hour maceration of lemon and orange peels, whole juniper berries, and other botanicals before distillation. This process ensures complete extraction of the aromas. The distillation itself takes approximately eight hours and is closely monitored by master distiller Desmond Payne.
