With this Oxygin, Frederik van Duüren from Oostduinkerke steadily expands his line of four exceptional gins distilled in Outrijve. Following his Duingin, Ginius, and Ginger, he now provides a distinct yet subtle oriental touch with relatively few botanicals. Of the ten ingredients, sencha tea and bamboo create a fresh, vegetal note with a slightly bitter base, while lemongrass provides the top notes. The rather unusual use of sumac—a tart-tasting stone berry from the Middle East and Asia that is ground—adds a touch of spice to a complexity carried by rhubarb. All this results in a refreshing and easy-drinking gin that, when paired with a neutral tonic, breathes fresh air into a hectic life.
