Description
47% alcohol, 47 herbs, and the cult gin par excellence. The story sounds too good to be true. Shortly after the year 2000, a heavy chest surfaced during the restoration of a local inn in the Black Forest. Inside was a sketch of a Javanese monkey and the gin recipe. British Royal Air Force aviator Monty Collins ended up in Berlin after World War II. He took charge of the Berlin Zoo and, in particular, a monkey named Max. In 1951, he left the Royal Air Force to learn watchmaking in the Black Forest. When that plan failed, he started the inn "Zum Wilden Affen" (Zum Wilden Affen). Because he longed not only for his monkey but also for British gin, he developed his own gin recipe using ingredients from the Black Forest and India, where he grew up.
Taste & Aroma : A gin that pulls out all the stops. Despite the very pronounced herbs, juniper, and pepper, the citrus flavor remains. 47% alcohol.
Custom tonic: Fentimans is the only tonic that can withstand the uppercut of this complex gin. The result: a firework of spice and citrus flavors. Blackberry is one of the Black Forest's signature botanicals.
Garnish: Blackberry and blackberry leaves.
